National Training for August

nrhalogosmall.jpgPlease find below the “Time Table” and “List of the Players” for August National Training Weekend which takes place in Bushfields, Peterborough on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of August 2011.

Please be aware that the September National Training will be on the first weekend 3rd & 4th September 2011 due to Under 17 Europeans, Worlds Under 20 and Seniors.

Carlos Amaral NRHA coaching Director said “I have still not received completed new registration forms from all players and would appreciate them at the August National Training. I will send an email to the players that I haven’t received the new Registration Form”.

Please ensure you advise Carlos before August 19th if you are unable to attend your session.

A fantastic day of Roller Hockey and a final farewell to the Pier

RollerHockey_Seniors.jpgSaturday 23rd July saw six fantastic games of Roller Hockey, the final ones to take place at the historic Pier. After a full day of games, a capacity crowd were treated to an exciting match between Herne Bay United Kings and Middlesbrough. The Kings were determined to even the scores after narrowly losing out to Middlesbrough for the Premier League title. Neither team were willing to give any space and with the scores tied at 3-3 at full time, both teams went into a battle for the golden goal. HBU Kings were the eventual winners with the final goal, in the final match being scored by the Kings Joe Singleton.

Scores for all the matches were:

Under 11’s HBU 5 – 2 Plymouth
Under 13’s HBU 1 – 13 Invicta
Under 15’s Invicta 10 – 3 Ely
Under 17’s Peterborough 5 – 2 Bury
Ladies Blues 4 – 3 Reds
Seniors HBU Kings 4 – 3 Middlesbrough (golden goal)

Following the last match, awards were presented to the winners of each national league:

Premier League Champions: Middlesbrough

National Division 1 Winners: Houghton Regis

After which the players of the year were awarded their trophies:

U11 -  Matthew Baker (Kings Lynn)
U13 -  Lewis Greenwood (RHC Invicta)
U15 – Scott Neville (Cottenham)
U17 – Sam Norton (Bury)
U20 – Nick Flint (Peterborough)
Senior – Owen Stewart (Middlesbrough)
U15 Lady – Heather Dunand (Ely)
Senior Lady – Emily Rawlinson (Bury)

The Henry Crystal Trophy for outstanding contribution to Roller Hockey was presented to James Taylor.

Finally, Keith Allen, President of the National Association said a few words about how important The Pier had been to Roller Hockey and it’s contribution was marked by a one minute applause from the crowd. A moving moment for players and spectators alike.

Congratulations to all the winners and well done to everyone who took part and contributed to a fantastic Cup Finals day.

NRHA Cup Finals 2011

RollerHockey1206a.jpgThe NRHA Cup Finals is on Saturday 23rd July at the Pier Pavilion Herne Bay and this is for the very last time as it is being demolished in September.
The first Cup Final of the day starts at 10.30am and the last one starts at 4.45pm.
After which the presentations will take place.
We are also having as much Roller Hockey memorabilia as we can get, on display in the Cafeteria by way of a tribute to the Pier.
Anybody wishing to bring items of interest are more than welcome.

A reminder to all that the NRHA AGM is taking place on the 24th July at the Enterprise House Conference Centre, The Links, Herne Bay, Kent. CT6 7CQ starting at 10am.

Roller Hockey Cup Finals held at The Pier for the last time

nrhalogosmall.jpgOn 23rd July twelve teams will take to the rink of the Pier Pavilion in Herne Bay as it hosts one last showcase of top flight English Roller Hockey. The National Cup Finals, organised by the National Roller Hockey Association of England will be the last major Roller Hockey event to take place in the venue before it closes in the Autumn. Teams will travel across the country for the chance to compete for prestigious trophies and the pride of their clubs. Highlights include an under 11’s match between HBU and Plymouth showing off the best developing talent the country has to offer and what promises to be a highly competitive senior match between rivals HBU Kings and Middlesbrough, who recently won the Premier League, beating HBU Kings to the title in the final match of the season.

Ladies U18’s 2011 European Championships Cancelled

nrhalogosmall.jpgThe European Committee (CERH) has now confirmed that the Ladies U18’s European Championships has been cancelled due to the lack of countries who would like to participate.
The CERH rules state that the minimum number of countries participating in a European Championship should be five.
