2008 Summer Camps

Hi All,

I am pleased to announce that following the continual success of the Roller Hockey camps, I will be organising two Summer Camps in conjunction with the NRHA development plan.

The first Camp will commence on Saturday 2nd August and finish on Tuesday 5th August. This Camp will be open to two separate groups, group one Ladies and group two under 13’s, under 11’s and under 9’s, with both groups training separately throughout the Camp.

The second Camp will commence on Wednesday 6th August and finish on Saturday 9th August. This Camp will be open to Intermediates, Schoolboys and Juniors and as in previous Camps, these players will be separated into two groups according to ability.

Some minors may attend Camp two, depending on ability and I will discuss this with the relevant player and his parents.

I have made the decision to run two separate Camps to ensure that the players receive more specific training for their requirements and I am also limiting each group to 20 players to ensure they receive the attention needed to improve their skills.

Both Camps will be run as day Camps at the Ross Peers Sports Centre in Soham. All participants will need to be there for a 9am start and will need to be collected at 6pm. Every player will require a pack lunch of some description, snacks throughout the day and plenty of drink. There are also various snacks and drinks available through the vending machines at the sports centre.

For those players who will be staying for the week without parents, I will send through the hotel information and supervision arrangements, once the numbers are known. Any parents who may wish to accompany their child/children are free to organise their own accommodation.

The Camp will be run by me, with help from National Coaches, Darrel Pearce and Arthur Corr and Health & Fitness Coach Kirsty Ingham. We will also have assistance from a couple of current England senior player’s, they will be confirmed shortly. During the Camp we will be supported by Camp Co-ordinator Kim Brady and Child Protection Officer Michaela Parfitt, who will be organising the players.

The Camp will cover various exercises in ball control, passing, shooting and skating. We will also cover basic counter attacks and defence and Goalkeeper training will also take place. All players will also have a total of 3 rink sessions and 2 off the rink sessions each day. During the off rink sessions we will explain the exercises and discuss any improvements that the player needs to make.

The younger players will be concentrating on skating, ball control, shooting, pass, basic counter attack, basic defence and overall individual technique. The more experienced players will concentrate on individual technique, pass and go, pass and block, counter attacks, man to man defence and set plays. Goal Keepers will be given group and individual training in Goal Keeping techniques.

Two t-shirts will be provided to each player for the Camp. Both Camps will finish on day four with games and a presentation event, with each player receiving a certificate of attendance and a prize.

To ensure that your child receives good quality training, I have limited the numbers in each group to 20 players. Due to the popularity of the Camp, allocation of these places will be on a first come first served basis, with places only being guaranteed on receipt of the registration form and deposit, so I would encourage you to register as soon as possible.

Please confirm to me by email as soon as possible and complete the applicable attached Camp registration form and send with your deposit of £50, made payable to J C Amaral, to the address below. Alternatively you can bring these with you to the National Training weekend on 16th and 17th February.

I look forward to receiving your registration, however if you have any questions in the meantime, or would like to discuss anything further with me, please contact me.
