Herne Bay United double header weekend

Herne Bay United double header weekend in National Premier League.

This week has been a good week for Herne Bay United for not only two
wins in the League but disciplinary action against the previous league
leaders, Grimsby being docked three matches for playing a suspended
player during three matches and one of those being the game United
lost. United now go top.
Herne Bay United 1 played local rivals Herne Bay on Saturday with a
convincing score line that was unexpected with Herne Bay’s last two
games in the local league against United being a lot closer and causing the champions difficulty. However with United’s captain Simon Hosking being the man on form with a serious hot streak scoring  8 against the Bay and this seasons Rookie Joel De Figueiredo with 5 both had great performances. Unfortunately for the Bay, United never looked under pressure and were cruising to a 25-1 victory.
HBU 1 then faced Manchester on the Sunday morning who had beaten HBU 2
on the previous evening with a close 6-9 loss suffering two quick
goals after getting one back when they pulled the keeper and attacked
with five out players.

HBU 1’s Sun morning game was another good team performance with Captain Hosking continuing his run of form from the previous evening with 5 exceptional goals. This game was again close, United never lost the lead but gave glimpses of opportunity for Manchester to get back into the game but held fast even when United were down to three men with two sinbinned and Manchester with five, United only conceded one and though this made life somewhat a little difficult they took six points  over the weekend with an 8-6 win.
United’s manager Phil McVey said “overall a good weekend and two good
performances, this keeps us where we need to be in the hunt to keep
the title and also a good message for our National Cup semi final next
month!”

HBU’s next PL games are on April 24 v Project 2010 & on 25th V Bury. HBU2 play Middlesbrough on 25th – all these matches at the Pier.
Faversham’s RHC Invicta will play HBU 1 in Cup Semi final on the 8th May at the Pier Pavillion 7:30 pm. Invicta beat Herne Bay two weeks ago 5-6 on golden goal.
