Following recent red cards in a National Cup game , the punishment given was that the one match automatic ban would be served in the next National game played by the players in question.
This is a change from what used to be done in these circumstances.
It was a subject raised at a National Executive Meeting on the 18th October 2009 and was discussed at great length.
It seemed illogical that if a player received a 3 match ban in a National Cup game, he could be banned from playing in further National Cup games for 3 years if that team were beaten in the first round each year.
The section of the Minutes of that meeting relating to this decision are below.
“Minutes of NRHA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
Sunday 18th October 2009 – Bushfields Sports Centre Peterborough.
1. Present: Keith Allen (President)
Aileen Barker (Secretary)
Val Conroy (Competitions Officer)
Gordon Morrison (Marketing Officer)
Anthony Kendall (Treasurer)

Chris Freeman (NCRHA)
There were 2 outstanding red cards from Nat Cup which had to be served by those players –
Joe Singleton (HBU seniors) & George Holmes. Red Card bans such as these was discussed and it was agreed that at senior level a Red Card ban could be served in the next match whether it be Cup /PL/ND1 which ever came first.”
