Goodwood Marathon 2010

GoodwoodPam.jpgSunday August 8th, 2010 sees the 9th running of the Goodwood Roller
Marathon. Held at the historic Goodwood motor racing circuit near
Chichester, West Sussex, the event offers the opportunity to skate
outside, on smooth, traffic free tarmac.

The marathon distance of 26 miles is not the only distance on offer. A
mini-marathon (5 miles), half marathon (13 miles) and double marathon
(56 miles) are all available options.

The event attracts a whole range of skating ability (over 400 in 2009),
from the fastest speed skaters in the UK to others in fancy dress
raising money for the NSPCC, the event’s charity.

Last year also saw big roller hockey contingents from Plymouth and Bury,
with support from HBU, Houghton Regis and Farnham.

The fastest quad skater time for the full marathon is 2hrs 10 minutes,
so the 2 hour barrier is still waiting to be broken.

The event is not exclusive to skaters, so you may find yourself
alongside skate boarders, long boarders, and scooters.

Goodwood is a great day out. Bring a picnic. Bring support. Bring
yourself.
