COME AND TRY SESSIONS

colminor.jpgAll our clubs in the world of Roller Hockey need a regular supply of new players, so when your local sports centre gives you an hour slot for a taster session of Roller Hockey you would jump at the chance. This is what happen to Colchester RHC last weekend.

Manningtree Sports Centre hosted a variety of sport sessions throughout the day, including Roller Hockey, so not wanting to miss a chance to recruit some new players Colchester club secretary Marion Rose and some club members took up the challange. Marion said “we loaned our guests a stick and the sports centre supplied the skates then we showed everyone how to play the game. At the end of the session tri-fold leaflets were given out that had been supplied by the NRHA, five potential players turned up at our training session last night”. Marion added “we would like to do this a couple of times a year because we only need two or three players at a time and not large numbers all at once”.

Other clubs are also striving to increase their numbers with exhibition matches and come and try sessions, people who see our sport have said many times before how fast the game is played and would like to see it again.

If your club is hosting a come and try session, the NRHA tri-fold leaflets are available on request from Gordon Morrison at photos@nrha.co.uk
