One more chance to see top level hockey in the UK.
Sat 14th February top Italian team Bassano54 come to the Pier Pavilion to play the penultimate match in the Group stage of the European League.
They are sitting in 1st place in the Pool because of goal difference with Spanish side Reus Deporteu who are level on points. Reus will be at the Pier on 14th March so another ’super star’ team to come and see. Put it in your diary and get your ticket in advance!
HBU obviously are last in the Pool but the results do not reflect the play just the goals scored! Because these 2 top teams have drawn both their matches teams like HBU become the key to who comes out at the top! No pressure for the ‘keepers then…….
Tenerife are a fully professional team competing in the Spanish Premier League against Reus and FC Barcelona every week but like HBU they will not progress to the Final stages of the League.
On the Bassano Team sheet are a number of international stars to look out for – G/K Massimo Cunigatti very experienced and the oldest in the team at 38; Enrico Marriotti capt who has been to the Pier before with FC Barcelona and Novara; Sergio Silva Portuguese international, Brazilian Claudio Selva known as ‘Cacau’ + Bassano top scorer this season Valerio Antezza.
As at the previous matches there will be a Team Shirt Raffle which will be presented to the winner at half-time. Bassano54 have generously donated one understanding that HBU need cash to play this League. Todate this has proved more expensive that last time mostly due to the Euro exchange rate.
The Refs appointed to officiate on the 14th are both Spanish and one is the top female Ref – Teresa Martinez. She made a big impression on her last visit with a demonstration of professional refereeing that should be an encouragement and inspiration to any girls here who are wanting to take up the whistle.
The pre-match programme on this occasion will be 2 matches by teams selected by Carlos Amaral from his National Training Sessions in the Under 13s age group. We are expecting very competitive games. HBU will have representatives in both matches.
Doors and Bar will be open from 7pm and these matches will also begin at that time.
