In the first two games of the tournament we played France then Germany, losing 7 - 0 to France and 6 - 0 to Germany. Both games at half time were 4 - 0. In the 1st 10minutes of the 2nd half against France the ladies played very well, creating a lot of goal scoring opportunities. Against Germany, who beat Spain the previous day, the ladies played even better for the whole of the second half.
Bearing in mind that we have a very young team (average age 19yrs), a number of whom have not played at this level before, we are extremely pleased with the performance on the rink and in particular the team spirit both on and off the rink. The players are beginning to meet our objectives in terms of team play, individual ability and the creating of goal opportunities.
This is the beginning of a new era for the Ladies, the start of our preparation for the Worlds in Japan 2008 and more importantly for our 5 year plan to improve ladies hockey not just in England but internationally.
