England v Colombia 4 – 2
This was the final match for England and one which we must win in order to stay in group A.
The team started in good spirits and scored after 5 minutes with a long shot from James. However, it was the same old story and we allowed Nestor Ramirez to level it before 10 minutes had elapsed.
Colombia were awarded a penalty which Dan saved and then Marc put us back into the lead. Brendan then scored by coming from behind the goal and that made us 3-1 up at the interval. By then each team had collected 4 yellow cards.
After half time; England continued with the best possession with Colombia ever dangerous in the penalty area. Dan dealt with all the skirmishes brilliantly and had to save another penalty. With two minutes to go Marc converted from a pass by Brendan and it looked pretty safe. Almost instantly Colombia were awarded another penalty which Dan again saved. A very hectic last minute followed with three England players and Nestor in the sin bin. Unfortunately, we deflected a Colombian long shot into our own net with 17 seconds remaining. So we won 4-2 and stay the 13th team in Group A (where we started!).
