The quarter final programme had 1st in Group A meeting 4th in Group B so England faced Portugal.
England set out defend well but the 2 quick goals from their strong No 9 were a setback. The team though buckled down to work and Portugal playing all their set pieces failed to break through. Every player was used in this effort and they were rewarded with a goal from Joel de Figueiredo with 3 minutes to go. Portugal stung by this score of 2 – 1 increased the pressure and made it 5-1 at the half time break.
The team following Phil McVey’s instructions maintained their determination to cause problems for the Portuguese coach and his team only managed to add 3 more goals making the final tally 1 –8. All 10 players participated in the match.

Tomorrow England meet the Swiss who lost to France in Extra Time and a Golden Goal.
