The 2006 Annual General Meeting had the highest attendance for many years. Obviously clubs who normally are happy to give it a miss came to collect their money but whatever the reason as President, Keith Allen, said in his welcome address it was good to have them there!
Comments and questions following Officer Reports were varied and many interesting points arose which the Executive agreed to follow up.
One that would immediately be evident was that on this season’s Affiliation and Entry Form there would be a new Category in the National Cup Competition – Under 11s.
It was also agreed following Mike Richardson’s Referees Report that it was now the time to set up an Association of Referees and the Executive would assist getting this started as soon as possible. In the meantime the system whereby Clubs are responsible for providing a referee for any matches and events they compete in would continue.
Carlos Amaral’s Report on all the activities and successes of the National Teams informed the meeting that all of this had raised the profile of English R Hockey and was all good PR for what we are achieving. For the first time our players had respect on the international scene.
The possibility of registering with the NRHA online was raised and Kos Galtos explained that unfortunately it would not happen for this season but should be operational by 07/08 season.
