Middlesbrough Roller Hockey Club were congraulating
themselves this weekend after a very successful fundraising
event. “We plan to have a bag pack every six months or so, and
had one this weekend” said Tony Czifra, of MRHC.” We have Race
Nights and Quiz nights etc, but in reality, that’s just the
members and family contributing to the Club. A Bag Pack is
members of the public donating a little each, adding up in a big
way for our Club in your local supermarket.
We then made sure all attending knew the location, and that
they had to arrive early, dressed in Club Tracksuits (adults) and
playing Strip (Kids). For the newer volunteers/Parents who didn’t
have club colours, we provided badges with Middlesbrough RHC
Asda Bag Pack Volunteer badges.
As well as a ‘Do’s and Don’t’s session with the Customer Serices
Manager before we started, we had to provide the volunteers,
and money boxes (plastic lunchboxes and flower pots with silver
foil over the top). These had an A4 print of the club name &
logo.
We also photo-copied 2200 A5 “Thanks for your support, and if
you’d like to try roller Hockey come to……” leaflets to put into
carrier bags to thank everyone who donated, to let people know
who we were, and to attract any new members. We then
manned between 15 and 20 checkouts at our local ASDA from
9.30am to 1.30pm. IN FOUR HOURS WE RAISED JUST OVER
£850.00
Asda were extremely pleased with the conduct and behaviour of
our club members, and have invited us back.
Needles to say, we will be going back!
Anyone who would like more information on how to best agree a
bag pack with a local supermarket, how to get volunteers to help
on the day, and the best way to maximise the opportunity is
welcome.
