Best Rink in the UK to become a CASINO?

April 10th, 2006 · No Comments

There is a proposal to move sports out of the Pier Pavilion in Herne Bay and turn it into a ‘Super Casino’

The new sports venue was hoped would provide even better facilities than at the Pier Rink but unfortunately it looks like that is not in the plans. All though the rink floor is likely to be 40m x 20m there appears to be no accommodation for spectator seating. Without this no sport could stage any major event.

The local clubs have joined forces to try and persuade the local council to revise these plans and provide a sports centre that can host European Championships and other international competitions not just for Roller Hockey but other indoor sports too.

All Club Secretaries have been given information as to how they can support the campaign to keep a Rink in Herne Bay where top quality Roller Skating can be enjoyed by players and spectators. If you want to know more please email the NRHA Gen Sec gensecnrha@aol.com

There has been Roller Hockey on the Pier since 1910 and it will be a little traumatic to leave the site but it would be acceptable for a new and improved Rink. The very first European Championships were held on a Rink on the Pier
