As part of the ongoing development of English referees, 2 foreign international grade B referees will be visiting England at the invitation of The NRHA.
The referees, Mark Lewis and Enrico Armati, both from Switzerland, will double referee with at least 8 of our own referees over the first weekend in April.
The matches they will be attending are Grimsby v Letchworth followed by Middlesbrough v Bury St Edmunds, both on Saturday the 8th April and Sheffield v Letchworth on Sunday 9th.
One of the referees will then be present at Retford for the Division 1 tournament again on the 9th.
Mike Richardson, Referee Officer for the NRHA stated that “Both are very keen to be able to assist with our referees development, they will not only be refereeing but will be talking through their experiences and offering advice”
And continued, “Whilst each team in the national tournaments have to appoint one referee each, any English referee of grade 3 and above who wishes to attend and benefit from this experience will be accommodated and should inform me of there intention.”
This is the hopefully the first of many such visits, costs allowing, in the continued development of the referee product, which has already seen issue of new referee grade cards, possible new uniforms and will if negotiations go well see English referees attending training weekends in Spain.
