Carlos Amaral has sent the following reports.
ENGLAND 1 v FRANCE 6
This match started with the French using a full-rink press which led to panic and conceding an early goal. England called a time-out and the team got it together and managed to match the French aggression. The half-time score was 2 – 0 to the French.
England continued to fight hard and gave everything they had against a side that was fast and very aggressive. Their team also had 5 players from their Senior European Championship winning team! Ruth Russell scored the only English goal. This match was the debut for 12year old goalkeeper Sophie Gutteridge who kept a clen sheet in the 7 minutes she was in goal. Emily Sheppard (13) also played in her 1st International for England.
ENGLAND 1 v Germany 4
The girls inexperience and tiredness was evident and the opposition scored 2 soft goals in the 1st half with slapshots. In the 2nd half England moved the ball better and a well worked goal came from Anna Russell. The soft defence unfortunately led to the Gemans upping their total to 4.
