MIDDLESBROUGH U13′S LEAGUE
(Report submitted by Tony Czifra)
Middlesbrough are pleased to announce the successful launch of their U13’s Local League. The inaugural day saw 3 teams competing, with players from West Middlesbrough RHC, Middlesbrough RHC and also novices who have recently joined the Thursday ‘ALL WELCOME’ session (7-8pm @ The Rainbow LC).
The league will run right through the summer at Ormesby Sports Complex, on Saturdays 10am to 12pm, with additional events at Albert Park Roller Rink throughout the summer.
The teams have been formed to make a fair split between very experienced players, less experienced, and novices. As more players join the league weekly (20+ currently attending. MRHC expect this to rise to 30 by September), more teams will be formed. MRHC will also welcome other clubs to discuss friendly events, based on U13’s competition this summer in Middlesbrough. Matches are based on time available during the Saturday training session, but are between 10-15 minutes long. “No keepers, just ‘wooden stand-ins’ are used for now” said Tony Czifra, League Co-ordinator. “The competition is no less fierce to score with the wooden keepers, with the kids practicing their celebration routines!”
The league will be based on a weekly league winning team, plus the overall accumulation team winner of the season. With a squad of players from the MU13 League going on to be selected for Middlesbrough’s U13’s first team at the start of next season, all the players are raring to go, with some enthusiastically declaring their intention of playing for England – and with Heather, Pippa and Owen leading the way there, who can dare to disagree?!
Please note : MRHC are currently in the process of documenting it’s Child Protection Policy in line with the NRHA guidelines, so names of players are currently FIRST NAME only, until full conformance including parental agreement to publish names / photos is given (expected to be complete by Friday 8th April).
