Halifax Seniors win Guernsey invitational

April 9th, 2005 · No Comments

Halifax played both Guernsey teams (select & veterans), Walsall
and Herne bay at the invitational held over easter weekend.

Results were:

Halifax 6 – Guernsey select 4
Halifax 16 – Guernsey Veterans 1
Halifax 5 – Herne Bay 4
Halifax 5 – Walsall 5
Final: Halifax 8 – Walsall 0

Special mention for Joanne Hampson. She played out of her skin all weekend and was voted Halifax’s most important
player…even when playing under severe hangovers!

The final against walsall would have been much closer had they
not had more games to play on the day and found they had little
left in their legs for the final.

Final standings 1st halifax 2nd Walsall 3rd Guernsey veterans
4th Herne bay 5th Guernsey select.

The tournament needs more advertising with english clubs and
is held on the same weekend every year. The turnout was poor
this year but in 2000 (our last visit there) there were ten teams
and it made for a much stronger tournament.
