Simon Hosking scored the first and James Taylor added the second before 2 minutes had cleared. That set the seal on the 1st half that put England ahead 8-0, (Hosking 2, Taylor 3, Pearce 1, Austin 1, Waddingham 1.
The 2nd half began where the 1st left off with goals from Barker, Wheatley(2)and Taylor. This was followed by a period when England play lost shape and NZ scored twice. Then we has a period of several inexplicable penalties against both teams of which NZ converted one.
England regained their rhythm and began scoring again – Hosking, Austin, Waddingham, I’Anson, Austin (penalty) and Hosking in that order.
Trying for one more England slipped up and NZ grabbed their 4th goal with just 7 seconds on the clock.
Final Score 18 – 4.

Match schedules are being re-arranged around Catalunya’s TV contract and the referees are enforcing, or not, specific rules, mostly effecting goalkeepers play, at various times and at different ends of the rink. The Austrian G’keeper had to wear a shirt our keeper had just taken off as his was deemed to be too similar to opposition team colours but the keeper at the other end was not penalised when we believed his were almost identical to his own team. shirts. That team was Macau!
