The 5-0 half time scoreline indicated that, despite not finding any real shape, there are enough England players who can put the ball in the back of the net against a Japanese team that could do nothing but defend against us and with their goalkeeper doing an excellent job.
Things got better in the 2nd half and the final score was 14-0. All the players got on the score sheet except Brendan Barker who played a key play-making role.
With Cataluyna just going through the motions (limiting their score to a maximum per half & making a million passes), it was not possible to tell how Australia could play until their match against Japan. This could have gone either way until the last 3 minutes when Oz got the result 6-4.
England are top in their group after 2 matches having been awarded 10-0 against withdrawn Korea, Cataluyna in 2nd!
General comments – with a good wash the floor might have some good grip. At present it’s an ice-skating rink worse than La Roche in the Europeans. The only other casualty of the morning was the boiler in our changing-room which burst and flooded us out!
