ENGLAND v FRANCE- Senior Euros France

September 18th, 2004 · No Comments

At 1-0 down from a 1st minute goal that the French scored rather than our mistake, the match was evenly balanced for the remainder of the first half. Even so the French scored their second goal just before half-time from a defensive error which left a man free in front of goal, arguably standing in the D.
Whilst the team stamina has been much improved, tiredness with a loss of concentration set in after 4 minutes of the 2nd half. This led to 3 goals in 40 seconds and another 2 in the 9th minute taking the score to 7 -2 to France.
At that time the French had gambled on a completely attacking team who were mostly local with main man Tarassioux taking a rest.

Marc Waddingham came on for Simon Hosking and Brendan Barker for Joe Wheatley. Even though James Taylor was also tiring the team were moving the ball well which led to more penetration in attack. Marc scored from a flick up and hit from behind the goal and Brendan swept in a pass from James to one reply by the French.
Final score 8-2.
Play Holland this afternoonfor 7th/8th place.
