At the AGM in July 2004 it was proposed that the NRHA abolish the over age concession for female players in National Competitions to be effective from 05/06 Season. This was carried by 20 votes for with 1 against with 2 abstentions.
There have been questions asked recently as to what is permitted this season. So I will clarify the situation.
This has been the Rule since 1996. It was originally brought in for 1 season but never changed.
National Minors League – Female players may be a maximum of 1 year older than the age group.
National Intermediates League – Female players may be a maximum of 2 years older than the age group.
There is NO concession for female players in the National Youth/Schoolboy League.
Should an ALL female team wish to play at this level they can be of any age.
The Rule states that any player wanting to take advantage of these concessions should apply to the Competitions Executive for clearance. In the recent years this has not been enforced though Registration Cards have been checked at events where female players are over age.
As the AGM decided all the above concessions will not be available after this season.
This is an official statement from the Executive Committee.
