Keith Allen is President of the NRHA.
He was elected unopposed when Glyn Thomas announced he would not be standing again. The term of office is 4 years.
Glyn, whose term of office included the Centenary year will continue as the NRHA representative at the CEA meetings.
He and Keith were elected to be Hon Life Members of the Association in recognition of their services to the sport.
Other election results were Stephen Hancocks as Treasurer and Allan Johnson as Competitions Director.
Congratulations to them all.
The proposal regarding the female player age concession was amended to’That the NRHA abolish the over age allowance given to female players competing in Minors/Intermediate & Youth National level competition with implementation to be deferred until 2005/6 season’ This was carried on a vote of 20 for and 1 against with 2 abstentions.
The 2nd proposal regarding National Cup entry fees becoming free, this was also carried on a vote of 12 for and 10 against with 1 abstention.
Amended Reg/Entry Forms will be sent to all Club Secretaries in the next 24 hours.
Among the other items and issues raised and discussed were Child Protection Policy,Recruitment,Referee training and assessment and Insurance.
The Lennards Tournament is likely to return to its traditional date of the May Bank Holiday from 2005. Since this event has been held at the end of August, entries have declined alarmingly so it will be entered on the calendar for 28/29May 2005 if the rink is confirmed.
The main message from the AGM is that Clubs and their members have a responsibility to assist the development and running of the sport. This does not necessarily mean being on the Executive Committee but could mean joining a sub committee or helping in the Regional Associations as well as at Club level.
