Referees
We need to encourage more non-players to become referees.
As players, we must realise that without them we cannot play
roller hockey.
In order to achieve this the NRHA are taking the following steps
:-
1. Stricter use of cards for dissent.
Any Player or Coach showing dissent towards the referee
will be warned for the
first offence, shown a yellow card for the second, a yellow/
blue for the third and
a yellow/red for the fourth.
2. Referee Improvement.
The League Cup event, being staged on the first weekend
and the fourth weekend
of September, will be used for the assessment and
improvement of existing
Referees.
The first weekend there will be 6 games being played at
each of 3 venues.
The fourth weekend, on Saturday, there will also be 6
games being played at each
of 3 venues.
The fourth weekend, on Sunday, there will be 9 games
being played at a central
venue.
This competition will provide a total of 45 games for
Referee assessment and
improvement.
3. Referee and Coaches Recruitment and Development
The NRHA will be holding 3 courses for referees and
Coaches this season.
The first will be over the weekend of 30th/31st October
and will be aimed at Level
2 for Referees and Level 3 for Coaches.
The second will be over the weekend of 7th/8th May and
will be aimed at Level 2
for Referees and Level 3 for Coaches.
The third will be over the weekend of 18th/19th June and
will be aimed at Level 1
for Referees and Level 3 for Coaches.
In addition to these, the Lennards and Peter Wimble events
can also be used for
the assessment, improvement or recruitment of Referees
and/or Coaches.
Further to these, 2 dates have been included in the
National Calendar for Regions
to hold their own Referee Seminars and tests.
These are the weekends of 11th/12th September and 29th/
30th January.
