SECRHA U13’s Plymouth

Herne Bay United (HBU) continued their winning ways at the latest U13 SECRHA tournament at Plymouth. They continue to show excellent individual skills, but more important than that, they play as a cohesive unit. Sadly, the absence of the Herne Bay team reduced this to a three game tournament for each team.

The young Reading continue to improve, scoring against every team. The players in this team are young enough to be together as Minors for another two years, so watch out for them in 2005/2006. And importantly they have a very enthusiastic (and vociferous) bunch of parents supporting them.

Herne Bay United, at the top of the league, cannot be caught. With four games to play, three games in hand over second place Plymouth, and eleven point ahead of third placed Farnham, they cannot be caught.

But this correspondent will admit to being somewhat puzzled by the number of games each team has played. Herne Bay and Plymouth have both played an odd number of games, all other teams having played an even number – which seems correct for a series of “four game” tournaments. Hopefully it will all come out in the wash.
