Sunday 4th April – Lipson, Plymouth
Once again HBU dominated the 4th round games, scoring 39 goals against 9 conceded. Barring a major disaster, HBU must surely be crowned eventual winners after the remaining two tournaments.
There was, however, still much interest in the remaining position. Plymouth’s 4-2 win over Farnham moved them into second place on goal difference and with one game in hand. The game between these two close rivals has tended to be the crunch match of each tournament so far .On this occasion two Farnham players were yellow carded for arguing with the referee (It never pays boys, so why do it?).
Elsewhere, a rapidly improving Reading are beginning to give the other clubs a run for their money. Their tally of goals in this round was 15, more than all the previous tournaments combined. Although they have yet to win a match, they are only 4 points behind Lipson, who need to work hard to ensure they do not receive the wooden spoon.
Herne Bay, the remaining team in the league, did not play this round. They have played 5 less games than Farnham, and need to win them all to have any chance of catching them.
