The NRHA and the organising Committee want to express their
thanks to all the players, officials, sponsors and spectators who
participated in this Tournament.
They all contributed to it being such a highly competitive and
entertaining and successful Tournament.
It was a celebration of 100 years for the National Governing
Body and the sport of Roller Hockey in Herne Bay.
It has raised the profile of Roller Hockey in the UK and its
reputation abroad.
ITV ‘Meridian’ attended and its footage has been broadcast in
the ITV Regional Sports News. The commentator and cameraman
were impressed by the sport and the atmosphere.
The event will also be reported in the Portuguese Sports
Newspapers, ‘Record’ and ‘Bola’. Vitor Almeida, one of the top
Roller Hockey reporters from Portugal, attended and was
surprised and pleased at the standard of the UK teams in the
tournament. He presented to the NRHA, on behalf of the
Portuguese Federation, an engraved plaque congratulating them
on their Centenary.
Event organiser, Aileen Barker, says she was especially pleased
that the competition was so open and even.
“This type of event is something I have wanted to see in the UK
for some time. Hopefully as a result of its success and with it the
message it sends to the Federations and Clubs in Europe it will
be possible to stage more Tournaments.
I knew, here in the UK, we could do it but we had to prove it and
this 100 year Century Tournament was just the opportunity we
needed.
THANK YOU ALL
