Having earnt respect, the match started in a well paced and tactical manner with Ripollett probing the flanks of Bury’s zone till finding a gap with a pass to a moving man who scored in the 5th minute.
2 minutes later Bury came back with a raised ball played down into the goal followed by another just 30 seconds later worked in with grest team passing to go ahead 2-1.
The physical English style of play and sheer determination continued to earn Bury space to hold the ball till with 8.31 of the half to go experienced Wheatly flicks low and hard through the legs of his defender from the right top of the penalty area to put his side up another goal.
Playing like ‘Terriers’ Bury start to dominate the possession finding speed and passing intensity against their highly frustrated Spanish opponents, playing the ball time and time again onto the goalkeeper.
The dogged defense of Bury is working but with 2 minutes remaining in the half Captain Pearce gets hit by a rebound off the Ripollett keeper which required stitches, but was patched up by a doctor playing for the opposition in the true spirit of sportsmanship!
In the second half, with Pearce off, Bury promptly scored their 4th goal in an ever increasing team performance.
At 13.41 Ripollett scored from the left to the far post in a good counter attack play that raised spirits which was repeated at 12.20 with another goal off a rebound in on the left post to bring the scores to 4-3.
With new intensity, Bury Goalkeeper Wells saved ball after ball in what is best described as match saving efforts, inspiring Pearce to come back on.
Dissapointingly, Wheatley gave away a silly penalty by shoving an opponent on the edge of his area which was convertedn with a low hard flick to the left post.
For 7 minutes both teams battled for the win and with just 22 seconds remaing Jack passed to Shawn Pearce to seal the match with a fantastic counter attack goal to take the match 5-4.
