Premier League Stalwarts Manchester RHC overcame ND1 outfit Halifax RHC on Sunday, at the Arcadia. In a Senior Cup match that suggested a local ‘Derby’ thriller was on the cards, unfortunately didn’t work out that way for Halifax.
Halifax, who were without 4 key first team players found themselves much on the defensive against a strong Premier League outfit, who as well as having a new Spanish Player, are also fortunate (and sensible!) enough to be able to bring some promising youngsters into the side. The ‘Mamford Brothers’ showed their England calibre with canny play throughout the match, with experienced Coach Paul Colton rotating his players frequently.
Manchester, who go out for a sabatical to Madrid this week, showed their superiority and power early on in the game, and went into the break 9-2 up.
The final result of 24-4 to Manchester reflects badly on Halifax, who at times put together excellent counter attacking moves, and had a fantastically performing keeper in England Ladies no1 Joanne. “They didn’t penetrate our penalty area enough” said Paul Colton, who none-the-less praised the developing Halifax side.
