The Premier League resumed this weekend after the christmas period break and saw current leaders Bury St Edmunds continue their good run with an outstanding 11-0 win over rivals Sheffield.
Current national Champions Herne Bay Utd hosted Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough took the lead through Peter Lonsdale in the second minute, however this only served to spur the Southern side on with goals from Simon Hoskins 2, Neil Austin 2 and Sam Jackson before John Jones replied for Boro to leave it 5-2 at half time to Herne Bay. The second period, although dominated in terms of possession by Herne Bay belonged to Middlesbrough who scored twice through Marc Rutland with Herne Bay’s only goal coming from Simon Hoskins. Towards the end of the game Middlesbrough were pushing for a share of the spoils in a frantic final 5 minutes although Herne Bay held on to get their league campaign back on track after losing to Bury in their opening game of the season
Manchesters game with Letchworth was a last minute cancellation and will be re-arranged shortly.
