Farnham Minors Tournament - 16/11/03

November 18th, 2003 · No Comments

Four teams contested the 2003 Farnham Shield on Sunday. From the start, Herne Bay United made it quite clear they had come to win. Fast, accurate passing, disciplined team work, and excellent individual skills overcame the resistance of the other three teams in the tournament.

With only 4 teams in the event, and three of these playing in this year’s SECRHA minors, and 30minute games, the tournament gave a good indication of what is to come in the league ahead.

Herne Bay United didn’t win everything though.

The Drake Wilks Fair play award went to Farnham.

The George Maddox most promising player went to Lee Windsor of Plymouth., a well deserved award for a player who put everything into his game for the duration of the tournament. Hopefully we will be seeing a lot more of Lee in the future.

Best Goalie also went to Tim Cook, also a Plymouth player.

And finally , “Coolest Player” of the tournament went to Ricky Roys of Cambridge, although it’s not entirely clear how you determine whether a goalie is “Cool” or not under all that gear.
