Eastbourne Skate Festival

July 29th, 2003 · No Comments

Two teams, from Southsea, and a combined
Cambridge and Ely team, represented the NRHA at the
recent Eastbourne Skate Festival. The session
consisted of a 30 minutes demon game in a sports hall
with a few problems – cricket net down one side, and a
PA at head height in one corner.

Local kids were then given the chance to come and
have a go. Tony Noble magically produced a huge
assortment of sticks, balls, shirts, knee pads and shin
pads. After demonstrating and trying some passing and
shooting skills. Eight kids were then given the chance
to have a game. They obviously enjoyed it, not wanting
to come off at the end. Two adults then joined the final
game to complete an enjoyable day at Eastbourne. The
invitation should be there for next year.

There is no doubt, as Eastbourne showed, that the
potential is still out there for our style of roller hockey. It
simply needs people on the ground to get out and
organise it.
