Northern Counties Cup Finals Report

June 25th, 2003 · No Comments

Mighty Middlesbrough Roller Hockey Club won two of the four Northern Counties Cup Finals they hosted against Manchester at home rink Albert Park.

Middlesbrough’s Under-13s were 3-2 trophy winners, while the seniors spanked the Mancs 7-4 in a niggly clash to complete the league and cup double for a second successive year.

Lady Luck deserted the Boro Under-15 and Under-17s, though, as the visitors ensured they left Teesside with a share of the silverware thanks to respective 5-2 and 6-2 scorelines.

“We fancied our chances in the Under-17s but let ourselves down because we didn’t pass the ball well enough,” said Peter Lonsdale, Middlesbrough player and competitions secretary of the Northern Counties Roller Hockey Association.

“We won the games we expected to, while Manchester would no doubt say the same thing as well.

“Honours just about deserved to be even and all in all it was a fantastic day’s hockey.”
