England’s most successful National Team Coach of the last 20 years, Carlos Amaral, has announced that he will be standing down as Coach of the Letchworth RHC, after an 8 year association, at the conclusion of this season and focusing on the job of keeping the England Senior Team in the A group of World Roller Hockey.
“I have really enjoyed Coaching the Letchworth Club” Carlos told PRH, “but this ‘project’ has now reached a natural conclusion and I want to focus my time on keeping England in the A Group and helping the sport in other ways.”
The England Coach is a ‘Roller Hockey man’ through and through, and the England Seniors and the sport will benefit from his increased attention on the teams professional preparation for the World A’s to be held in Oliv. De Azemeis Portugal from 27 September to 5 October this year.
If the England team can stay up in the top Group of World Roller Hockey they will be beating the trend that has seen teams coming up from the B group bouncing right back down again. The motivational and financial benefits of this achievement would be a real boost for the players and to the sport, and with the wealth of young talent coming through the National Team System it could cement a permanent place for England and mark the beginning of a sustained rise in England’s international standing.
