Last weekend saw Eastern Counties RHA hosting thier Jubilee Cup for Minors. The event was hosted at 2 events, Soham and Burwell with a pool of teams playing at each venue, with the top 2 teams from each group playing in the semi finals in Soham.
The North East team won all 3 pool games, by 4 v 1 against Colchester, 2 v 0 against Kings Lynn and 3 v 1 against Stevenage.
In the Semi Final, Pool winners North East played against Cambrdige who were runners up in there group and cruised to a hard fought, but well deserved 4-0 win.
The second Semi Final saw Peterborough beat Kings Lynn in a hard fought game.
As soon as the final started, it was clear that the North East team had their hearts and minds set on victory. They changed their tactics and shape in order to force their opponents to play at a higher tempo and put pressure on them in all areas of the rink. This payed dividends as Peterborough were caught in possession several times and the North East team led 3-0 at half time.
In the second half, Peterborough started to work their set moves and deservedly pulled a goal back. This prompted the North Easterners to pick the tempo up again and this led to a 4th and final goal to win the final 4-1
Congratulations to everyone involved from the players to the coaches and parents.
