Kos Galtos (Marketing) and Tony Czifra (Comps)for the NRHA recently met with the Head of SportsAid to formalise the process for NRHA registered Players under the age of 21 to receive Monetary Awards.
“SportsAid are an organisation who raise money andthen distribute it to minority sports” said Chris Gouldie, head of SportsAid.
“The NRHA has had an ongoing relationship for some years with SportAid” said Kos.
The availability of the money, andthe forms to get it, was never widely publicised however.
As the NRHA are the only recognised Roller Hockey discipline for SportsAid (as we have been established 99 years) we now have an organisation who although they do not have millions to give us, will work in partnership to ensure those most in need and aiming for England Player Status, can be helped along the way.
Any player who has been selected for England, who is under 21 years of age, and satisfies the eligibility criteria (ie, potential means testing) can apply through the NRHA for a grant. These can be as much as £250 per player.
Gordon Morrison has been appointed the NRHA SporsAid Applications Adminisrator.
The Process :
1 – Any Player selected for England (Male or Female) under the age of 21 should contact Gordon Morrison.
2 – The player/parent completes the form supplied by Gordon.
3 – The Player then returns the form to the NRHA SportsAid Applications Administrator, who forwards this to the NRHA Competitions Director.
4 – Comps Director then validates the form, confirming that the player has played in National League in England.
5 – Comps Director Validates the ‘aims’ and targets set by the player, often through research with the England Coach, or Club Coach of the player.
5 – The Competitions Director forwards the form tO the NRHA President for FINAL AUTHORISATION AND SIGNATURE, before being sentto SportsAid for assessment.
Only a finite number of awards will be accepted by SportsAid, but if fully sanctioned by the NRHA, all submitted should receive in the region of £250, depending on need, location etc.
If you have been selected for England, and think you fit the eligability criteria and would like to apply for a Award, contact Gordon Morrison on the email below :
