Coming to the end of a long hard season, a handful of teams around the country are feeling the fatigue that of course sets in.
“Some Teams are considering not fulfilling their committments” said Tony Czifra, Competitions Director. “If teams renege on their committments, they should be disciplined accordingly” said Kos Galtos, Marketing Director, NRHA, and England Coach.
Tony Czifra of the NRHA confirmed that Club Teams Cambridge, Southsea, Walsall and shortly HBU have been or are in the process of being disciplined for non-attendance. Also, ECRHA, SECRHA, SCRHA have defaulted on matches this season, from Ladies events, to Junior level and have been referred for disciplinary action.
The NRHA is currently awaiting a decision from Sheffield RHC whether or not they will host their Vets event on 8th June. “Why are all these fines suddenly coming about?” asked Craig Wilson of SRHC.
As teams are not aware of the other disciplinary cases that happen in the sport (including Red Cards etc), the NRHA has now taken the stance that any Club or Region who are disciplined will have the case detailed here on PRH, so all can see that no one club or region is being ‘picked on’ as the NRHA has been accused. This will only be publicised after the case is closed, so as not to prejudice a potential Review Panel, chosen from the membership.
“If a team does not fulfil its committments and let’s down other teams expecting to play on the day, as well as incuring Rink Hire and Referees costs, they will be fined as detailed in the Competition Rules and the Byelaws of the Association” confirmed Tony.
In some cases it seems that it is more because parents are also now tired and unwilling to travel at the end of the season. It’s up to the clubs and regions to make sure the burden of transporting kids is not solely on 1 or 2 people and all teams complete the season, and look forward to a well earned rest in the summer.
