Teesside’s best took centre stage at a glittering awards ceremony on Tuesday.
The seventh annual Teesside Sports awards, organised by the Evening Gazette newspaper and sponsored by Bells Stores and Middlesbrough’s Hill Street Shopping Centre – were staged at Middlesbrough’s thistle Hotel.
Middlesbrough Football Club Manager Steve McLaren presented the awards while the event was hosted by Radio Cleveland’s Paul Addison and Paul Kerr (Ex Middlesbrough Footballer).
The awards, designed to showcase the great wealth and depth of sporting talent and achievements in the region, attracted the highest quality of nominations, right across the sporting spectrum.
The Junior Prestige Award was given to Middlesbrough Roller Hockey Club for their outstanding community work with Junior players, six of who play for the England Schoolboy team.
Ray Stewart, Club Official said “the clubs profile was raised a little more last night when our schoolboys walked off with the under 18’s prestigious sports team award. We were totally gob smacked when the boys were announced as winners
but what a proud moment for all at the club.”
Well done Middlesbrough, keep up the good work
