HBU took another step closer to the title on Saturday night @ The Pier, with an easy win over Northern Visitors Sheffield Wildcats.

HBU were never in any danger, but after registering ZERO goals in the first half with number 10 Garrett Priestly in goal, HBU changed keepers @ the break, and Dan Barton – England’s undisputed number 1 – took to the floor, having been rested for HBU’s previous match after returning from England duty.

Another England star then stepped up and magnificently beat Dan on his post “It was an excellent goal” said Aileen Barker “and she should have had another minutes later!”

The scorer was Claire Hallam, who this season has become a regular in the Sheffield Premier League line up, is extremely active in Ladies Roller Hockey in the North and Nationally, and is a key member of the England Squad.

“This is a perfect example of how much Ladies Hockey has progressed” said Tony Czifra, Competitions Director. “Many people were opposed to Ladies playing in the Premier League, and this will show them that in today’s Roller Hockey if you are good enough, your in the team regardless of gender”.

“With both England Ladies Coaches in the Sheffield team there to see Claire (arguably the best Lady Player in England ?) perform, she has made her intention clear for a position in the England Team for the next event” said Kos Galtos, one of the Referees of the game.

Not many players can claim to have put a goal past England’s number 1 especially as he is coming back from a World Class Event and having a well deserved rest, Claire will no doubt be relishing the chance to do it again soon!

On Sunday, Sheffield were beaten 7-3 by a Strong Maidstone team, who are looking to finish this season strongly.
