Nations Cup 2003 – Report from Coach Carlos Amaral

April 25th, 2003 · No Comments

Having returned from a tiring trip to Montreaux with the England Seniors, Carlos Amaral has submitted a detailed report of the event, which is available as a download on this site.

“We achieved our Objectives of giving the players some high level experience before the World A’s, testing some tactical systems, and improving team spirit” said Carlos.

“Some of the top players in the World take part in he event” said Kos Galtos. The Spain and Portugal games in particular, should be viewed favourably for the English Lions, as both teams played with top line-ups and did not let up in the slightest. “It shows we have some way to go” said Carlos “and we should be playing abroad as much as possible”.

The Portugeuse press were particularly favourable of the English players and Coach, achieving a highly creditable result, and only being 3-1 down at half time.

This years’ objective for the England Camp of staying in the World Group A’s in September, and improving our rankings is well underway.

Carlos, never afraid of voicing his opinion concluded in his report that again the English seemed to have fallen foul of some dubious officiating to rob them of a result.
