Although in 1910, Bedford RHC and Northampton RHC were strong and played in the Midlands league, no record of a Midlands team called Aylesbury RHC was found and detailed by the NRHA’s official historian, Roger Pout in his book. UNTIL NOW.
Nathan Ing, a 31 year old ex-England, Letchworth, Leighton Buzzard and Houghton Regis player, has decided to change all that. “I left the game for a while, but have been slowly coming back into it. So are my friends.” Nathan and a few friends are now going through the process of Registering with the NRHA, and looking to join the NRHA’s National Leagues next season, and ECRHA leagues also. “We are almost ready” said Nathan, proudly, coming from a family long involved with Roller Hockey. Aylesbury RHC are going through the process of electing a Secretary and Treasurer, and have potential sponsors lined up. Nathan contacted Gail Whattingham of the NRHA, asking for information on how a new team gets started, and Gail and the NRHA were only too pleased to get Nathan on his way. “2 steps that Nathan and his team now need to do” said Tony Czifra, “are to get hold of some Goals, and find a venue to call home”. “Nathan and I had a long conversation on Friday night” said Tony, “it seems we share something in common too – we’re both still using a set of old ‘Gitto’ hockey boots that went out with the ark!”. Nathan has been supplied some contacts and information to get started, and the ‘NRHA VENUE’ Letter available from PRH downloads should help with any Local Councils that Aylesbury RHC encounter who have the misinformed impression that Roller Hockey and modern skates harm leisure centre floors.
Special ‘New Club’ tariffs and registration fees apply for new clubs starting out, so this should help ARHC get on their skates for the 2003/4 season. If you would like to lend some support, or just pass on a kind word to Nathan and Aylesbury RHC, he is looking forward to hearing from you. Please email him at : nathaning@hotmail.com
Welcome back Nathan! And Roll on Aylesbury RHC ! !
