In UK Roller Hockey, it’s fair to say we are quite a close ‘family’, where players and parents double up as Coaches, Refs, Club Secretaries etc. To Roller Hockey Fanatics, it often seems all our spare time is taken up with our sport. Sometimes, partnerships start as a result of meeting because of hockey, and sometimes both partners become wholly involved in the sport. One such couple who worked tirelessly for the sport at National level were Bob and Pam Dann. Bob & Pam still work hard for the EC region, while Bob also represents that region on the NRHA Exec. “It looks like history is repeating itself” said Paul Williams of Southern Counties. Paul, along with his wife Julia, now spend hours and hours a week on Roller Hockey. Paul, who was the first National Co-ordinator appointed by the NRHA this season and who runs National Division One, also plays for Mayflower, and is active in the regional set up too. Julia recently took on the role of NRHA Juniors Co-ordinator, and like Paul, is totally involved in the sport at all levels. “These folks really should be praised for the effort and dedication they put in” said Tony Czifra, Director of Competitions. “The role of the National Co-ordinator will expand next season. Not only will they be responsible for administering the league, they will also have direct input into the formation of the National Calendar year on year, assist the Disciplines & Disputes Officer (to be elected at the AGM), and take a leading role in EVERYTHING to do with their league, and the development of it” said Tony.
