The NRHAL U17’s got off to a brilliant start at an event superbly hosted by the ECRHA in Hitchen, Hertfordshire last Saturday.

In a tight match that went down to the wire (North East 4 – East 3), Referee Mike Richardson showed why he is England’s leading Referee when by playing the advantage he encouraged a game between two well matched opponents to develop into this years most noteworthy match.

“The match between the North East and East was the best that I have seen in England between U17’s “ said Kos Galtos, England U17 Coach, “the players were disciplined, passed the ball well and demonstrated strong technical and defensive skills that made the match a fierce contest that both teams should be proud of!”

“The team Coaches should also be congratulated for their use of tactics throughout the match, which they adapted wisely and well” said Kos, “”If we can raise our national playing level to what we saw in this match, England will soon be on its way up the International Rankings!”

The day also saw strong personal performances from a number of players, including a magnificent dribble from Andrew Simms (North East) that would be worth watching over again.
