At the recent Annual General Meeting of the Northern Counties Roller Hockey Association, past President, ex-international player and referee, Mr Neville Black was elected President, replacing Mr Glyn Thomas who was recently elected as President of the NRHA.
Ex England Captain, Neville Black brings back to the NCRHA a wealth of experience, having played for many years for Middlesbrough and England as well as having been a senior international referee that officiated at the Barcelona Olympics and many European and World Championships. The Association is in good hands.
Mr Peter Lonsdale shall be continuing as Secretary for the second year of a four year term, as does Treasurer Mike Richardson.
For the first time in many years the Northern Counties will start the season with numerous referees including International Grade “B” Glyn Thomas & Mike Richardson, Grade 1: Chris Freeman, Grade 2: Derek Bell, Kenny Stockton, & Tony Czifra. Grade 3: Stewart Henderson, Martin Sims, & Angela Walker, plus Provisional referees: Ryan Chambers, Gareth Cook, Dave Fothergill, James Hall & Garry Reynaulds.
This year the Regions referees will be encouraged to improve their skills and accreditations, and shall be allocated numerous matches in the Regions tournaments through out the year.
Younger players shall also be encouraged to take up refereeing, to put something back into the organisation of the sport, and Clubs NCRHA will have to supply in advance the name of at least 2 trainee referees that will assist at each tournament.
Regional Leagues are planed to commence soon and are waiting upon Clubs to supply Peter Lonsdale with registration information.
