August 15th, 2002 · No Comments

The 2002 Lennards Cup, one of the oldest Senior competitions in World Roller Hockey, looks like being one of the most exciting in years.

Eight teams have entered, including the new national Schoolboys team, to contest the tournament, 31 August to 1 September, at Southsea.

The tournament consists of two groups, Pool 1 – Middlesbrough, Farnham, England Schoolboy’s, Herne Bay United and Pool 2 – Maidstone, Herne United, Manchester, Letchworth, were teams will play off within the group in a league format and then play for places, with each team playing a total of four matches on the outdoor rink at Southsea over two days.

The weekend, as always, looks like being lots of fun and a great opening for season 2002/3, and sees ‘Top Scorer’, ‘Best Goal-Keeper’ and ‘Most Valuable Player’ awards being made, the MVP being awarded by the players in the tournament.

Enjoy the sun!
