NRHA Council supports new marketing focus

Plans explained by new NRHA Marketing Director, Kos Galtos for growing and developing Roller Hockey in England were given the support of Club delegates at yesterdays AGM.

“I love Roller Hockey and believe that it is time we vocally shout about the positives of our sport”, Kos said to the meeting “We have to ensure that we protect and respect the enthusiastic ‘doers’ and support activities that grow our sport at a local level.”

“Since taking on the role 6 months ago, I have worked to establish ways to improve how the NRHA communicates with our members and to identify how best to help Clubs and the people who run them.”

“We have worked hard to establish PlayRollerHockey.net and TalkRollerHockey.net so that we can provide better information to members and publicly hear thoughts and ideas about the sport.”

The meeting was advised of the launch, to 2,000 past and present members, of the NRHA’s Local League programme that has been designed to encourage members to get involved with organising simple competitions for kids in their local area.

“So far we have 12 new leagues pending and heaps of people willing to help as referees, timekeepers and team managers”, Kos advised. “If all goes as expected we could grow the sport by over 240 new members within the next few months… that’s 30% growth!”

As well as seeking to inject new blood into the sport Kos announced the impending release of new Roller Hockey merchandise, with profits going to support Clubs and National Team members, and discussed negotiations that are taking place with a potential National teams sponsor that could contribute up to £125 per player.

The NRHA’s new Marketing Director concluded his presentation to the meeting by stating “the NRHA IS acting to help those that are willing to positively make an effort to grow the sport. The one thing that you can do to help is to not to hide your enthusiasm for Roller Hockey. Speak about it and share it with others with little regard for any naysayers that may still exist. Be proud that you play Roller Hockey and enjoy it!
