Top Portuguese Junior Club, Infante Sagres, have signed young England star James Taylor to play in this seasons Portuguese National League.
“A couple of weeks ago I was invited to trials in Portugal and then last week the coach came to Cup Finals in Peterborough to check out how I play as a part of a team” James said, “It feels great to be offered the opportunity to play in such a tough competition and I look forward to doing my best for my new Club.”
Last February, Taylor Captained England at the World Schoolboy Championship in Chile, where the team beat France, Brazil, South Africa and New Zealand to achieve an amazing 4th place, and almost upset number 2 finishers Chile in a toughly contested match, and he was identified by Portuguese Roller Hockey great Fernando Adriao as “one of the best players in the Championship.”
England Schoolboy Coach, Kos Galtos, said “James has worked hard to develop his skills as a player. He is a good guy and he he takes the sport really seriously, putting the work in to ensure his competitiveness! I wish him well and sincerely hope that other young players follow his example.”
Taylor, who is almost 17 years old, currently plays under Coach Carlos Amaral at England’s Letchworth RHC and having recently finished his studies, plans to leave for his new Club, in Porto, at the end of August.
Congratulations to James Taylor! Who now joins only two other English players, Andrew Ashurst (Spain) and Ian Morrison (Spain), currently playing in the pro leagues…
